FAIRFAX, Va., Apr 2, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ExxonMobil today introduced an easy-to-use hand-held device that enhances the productivity of its popular Mobil Monitor (TM) Lubrication Management System (LMS) software and enables maintenance professionals to very effectively monitor and maintain their valuable equipment.
Called the "Mobil Monitor LMS Handheld Workflow Manager," the 11-oz. unit can quickly download data from Mobil Monitor LMS, including scheduled maintenance tasks, work instructions and safety information. Mobil Monitor LMS software, together with the new Handheld Workflow Manager, simplifies the process of tracking plant assets, scheduling of lubrication and equipment maintenance, and generating of management reports.
"For maintenance professionals with a large amount of equipment, the Handheld Workflow Manager can represent a sizeable improvement in productivity," said Elizabeth Bennett, industrial marketing manager - Americas, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. "Instead of printing work schedules, keying in maintenance details and other clerical tasks, technicians can concentrate on optimizing plant operations."
In a typical application, the scheduled work is downloaded from Mobil Monitor LMS into the hand-held device. When a technician scans a piece of equipment with the built-in barcode reader, a detailed worksheet with work tasks and instructions appears on the unit's LCD screen. The technician can make entries into the Handheld Workflow Manager via touch screen or keypad. The completed work is then uploaded for storage in the system.
"The Mobil Monitor LMS Handheld Workflow Manager multiplies the benefits of the Mobil Monitor LMS software by providing a convenient way to simplify work schedules, improve accuracy, reduce manual data entry and the associated errors, as well as collect and capture data," said Bennett.
The Mobil Monitor LMS Handheld Workflow Manager features a 66 mhz processor, has 10 megabytes of internal flash memory and a four-hour rechargeable battery.
