FAIRFAX, Va., Dec 1, 2004 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- ExxonMobil Research and Engineering Company (EMRE) announced today that Formosa Petrochemical Corporation (FPCC) has selected ExxonMobil's catalytic lubes technology for its grassroots catalytic lube basestock complex at its Mai-liao, Taiwan, refinery. The plant includes Vacuum Distillation, Lube Hydrocracking, Selective Dewaxing (MSDW(TM)) and a Food Grade White Oil unit.

FPCC selected ExxonMobil's well proven and productive lubes technologies which offer basestock manufacturers a full suite of integrated processes to cost-effectively produce very high quality basestocks. The 10,000 B/D products complex, including 1,000 B/D of Food Grade White Oils, relies on the extraordinary capability and technological sophistication of ExxonMobil's lube processes.

FPCC is a subsidiary of Formosa Plastics Group, the largest private company in Taiwan. In May of 2004, Asian Business magazine named Formosa Plastics one of the 20 most admired companies in Asia Pacific.

EMRE is the research and engineering arm of Exxon Mobil Corporation (NYSE:XOM), a leading global oil, natural gas, and petrochemicals company whose subsidiaries have operations in approximately 200 countries and territories.
