ExxonMobil Launches Integrated Lubrication Services Program to Help Optimize Plant Operations, Minimize Production Downtime
FAIRFAX, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 2003--ExxonMobil today announced the launch of an new and innovative program designed to help plant managers and engineers increase the operational efficiency of their facilities through a fully integrated lubrication services program.
Integrated Lubrication Services (ILS) will provide a broad range of lubrication maintenance services, including system start-ups and commissioning, in-plant maintenance and outage services, and lubricant reclamation programs. ILS builds on ExxonMobil's industrial lubrication expertise and leverages its network of company lubrication engineers, distributors and its strategic alliance with COT-PURITECH.
"We have listened carefully to our industrial customers and developed a holistic program that combines our performance products with valuable service offerings," said Elizabeth Bennett, industrial marketing manager - Americas, ExxonMobil Lubricants & Specialties. "Our Integrated Lubrication Services program delivers turnkey solutions that improve oil cleanliness, lengthen oil drain intervals, cut unscheduled downtime, and reduce maintenance costs. In short, ILS helps our industrial customers optimize their operations."
"To assist with ILS implementation, ExxonMobil has teamed with COT-PURITECH to provide on-site equipment and technical services," said Bennett. "COT-PURITECH is one of the nation's leading providers of lubrication maintenance services."
As part of a typical ILS project, ExxonMobil engineers work closely with plant maintenance personnel, distributors and on-site technicians from COT-PURITECH.

EXXONMOBIL INTEGRATED LUBRICATION SERVICES PROGRAM
ExxonMobil's Integrated Lubrication Services Program features a variety of services, such as:
Initial Fill Services: During new equipment installation, it is not unusual for contaminants to find their way into oil circulation systems and related piping.
These contaminants can cause serious damage once the equipment goes on line. ILS includes lubricant delivery, flush, filtration, fill and certification that the lubricant in the reservoir meets OEM specifications. ExxonMobil engineers recommend the best lubricant for the application.
Bearing and Return Line Flush: Obstructed return oil lines can cause excessive lubricant leakage and shorten bearing life. These obstructions are usually due to deposits from oxidation, wear and/or external sources. ILS provides a turnkey hot oil flush of bearings and related piping. Once flushed, ExxonMobil engineers recommend site-specific specifications for lubricant performance and identify service objectives to ensure optimal performance.
High Velocity Oil Flushing: Carbon and/or varnish build-up can severely compromise equipment reliability and affect associated lube systems. ILS provides high velocity oil flush services to help achieve lubricant cleanliness levels required by OEMs. High velocity oil flush services are especially useful for new turbine installations, turbine outages, new and rebuilt hydraulic systems, stationary engines, as well as bearing and return lines in paper machines. After flushing, ExxonMobil engineers help identify performance objectives and implement procedures to help ensure optimal operation.
Contamination Control Services: A leading cause of component failure is surface degradation from contamination. Left unchecked, contaminants can generate more contaminants resulting in even more wear and lubricant degradation. ILS uses in-line dialysis to remove water and solid contaminants from the lubrication system. Once completed, ExxonMobil engineers identify systems suffering from ongoing contamination, recommend methods for maintaining targeted levels of oil cleanliness and assist in establishing routine equipment audits.
Emergency Water and Particulate Removal: A sudden influx of water or other contaminants expose equipment and production to considerable risk. Ordinary filters are unable to address greater-than-normal amounts of water and particulates. ILS provides immediate contaminant removal and ExxonMobil engineers help determine the root cause of the contamination.
Leakage Oil Reclamation: Sometimes it's impractical to repair lubricant leaks, especially when equipment is critical to ongoing production. In those cases, leaking lubricants can be collected, segregated, cleaned and restored to original specifications. ILS provides on-site lubrication purification and reclamation by COT-PURITECH technicians using the latest oil reclamation technology. ExxonMobil engineers then identify reclamation candidates and assist in implementing segregation and handling procedures.
Cutting and Quench Oil Reclamation: Cutting and quench oils are sensitive to contamination and the lubricant degradation that can result. ILS starts with the establishment of used oil collection and segregation guidelines. The used fluid is purified on site and assessed for continued use. ExxonMobil engineers recommend segregation, collection and handling methods as well as establish guidelines for measuring the fluid's stability for continued use.
In-Plant Services: ILS in-plant services include oil system preventive maintenance, reservoir cleaning, contamination control, initial-fill oil purification services, lubricant sampling and trending, oil purification equipment rentals, oil system inspections and other lubricant related services.
